Happy 4 Sad began as a request from Julien to write a song dealing with his personal experience of depression and anxiety and ended up as an exploration of the persistently rising instances of mental health issues, particularly among young people in today's society and how this was exacerbated by the restrictions and the confinements of the pandemic but exists permanently and as a direct result of the ideology of no limits consumer capitalism.
